A hidden gem a short drive away – Ledmore and Migdale Forest

A beautiful 30 minute drive from Beechwood Lodge B & B takes you to the small hamlet of Spinningdale where you’ll find Ledmore and Migdale Forest, one of the largest sites in the UK owned by the Woodland Trust (www.woodlandtrust.org.uk).

The forest hosts three Sites of Special Scientific Interest – Ledmore Oakwood, Migdale Pinewood and Spinningdale Bog. The area provides a rich and diverse habitat and if you are lucky you might spot pine marten, red squirrels or any of the three species of deer that live within the site (Red, Roe or Sika) – so don’t forget your camera!

A short signed detour from the return track on the circular walk takes you to a tranquil viewpoint at the edge of the trees. Great for a picnicand quiet reflection.

Allow plenty of time to admire the views before heading back to your car.

Return to Beechwood Lodge for rest and relaxation (and to plan for your outing the following day ) – before heading out to a local restaurant for a delicious evening meal!

A good night’s sleep and you’ll be ready for your next adventure in this stunning area…
