Description
Day 1
Travel to the B&B, on the way you will experience stunning views of our countryside. A warm welcome awaits you on arrival; we will show you round and get you settled into your room. Over a cuppa, we will have a chat about personalising your weekend activities – planning what scenery and attractions you want to see, whether that be exploring the highlands, walks in the local area, or simply relaxing in the comfort of our B&B – or a bit of everything!
Following an afternoon of your planned activities, you will dine at one of the best local restaurants and after dinner, you could enjoy a walk around the nearby river, or simply relax with your bottle of complimentary wine by the cosy fireplace in the lounge, or in your room, where you can catch up with Netflix.
Day 2
After a hearty home cooked breakfast, the day will be spent enjoying your planned activities, such as visiting the local waterfalls, forests, castles or distilleries, or simply spending the day relaxing for that well-deserved rest.
In the evening you will dine at one of the best local restaurants, and spend the evening at leisure.
Day 3
As your last day creeps up, here is the last opportunity to fully take advantage of your holiday. You choose what you would like to do, hiking to the Fyrish Monument or going for one of our many woodland walks or waterfalls? It is totally up to you. You can decide how you would like to spend these days, if you don’t want to do any of the planning, let us take over and create a stay full of surprises.
Day 4
On the morning of your check out, after enjoying another home cooked breakfast of your choice, we can discuss the itinerary for your day and the journey home, where we will point out places of interest and hidden gems to visit on your way back.
P.S. Before booking, please be aware we have two friendly dogs and a cat in the house.

Your hosts
Hello there,
I am Gunta, and my daughter Kristine and I run the B&B. When you arrive, you’ll see our faces greeting you at the door. We are a friendly mother-daughter duo with a passion for travel and nature. At home, we have two well-behaved dogs Sasha & Roxy, and our old lady, cat Lola.
We love to spend time with amazing people from all over the world in great conversations, going for long walks in the nearby forest by the river and have a good laugh!
We live in the most amazing place on the earth! We are right in the middle of everything. From us, you can travel to very North to see Thurso, Wick or John O’Groats or visit West Coast and we are only 20 miles (30 min drive) away from Inverness. From our home, you can go for an amazing walk in the forest by the river.
You will be surprised how much here is to see!

“We had such a wonderful long weekend break at Beechwood Lodge thanks to Gunta & Alec who are fantastic hosts, so friendly and welcoming. The room was large and comfortable as was the bed, and they really have thought of everything you might need and breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from. What really made the trip special were the days we spent exploring. Thanks to Gunta & Alec’s local knowledge we saw so much beautiful scenery and went on walks we never would have found by ourselves and for the many people who told us not to go to the Highlands in winter how wrong they were, yes there was some rain but this only added to the magnificence of the rivers and waterfalls, and we had the most amazing boat trip on Loch Ness with blue skies and no hordes of people to share with. The meals that were arranged for us at the best local restaurants for each night was delicious and after that, it was nice to relax at the B&B lounge by the fireplace watching Netflix after a long day walking. Definitely home from home, can’t wait for our next trip as there is so much to see and do.”

“This will be the 4rth year for us to come back to Scotland and Beechwood Lodge, since the first time we fall in love with the Highlands and hospitality from Gunta & Alec. It is a great place to stay for a week or so, comfortable beds and rooms, perfect breakfast with loads of choice. The sitting room is a great addition to the stay, where you can meet other guests or watch a movie or play board games. Nice, quiet and peaceful. In short walk away there is amazing walks in the forest by river and hosts are very knowledgeable of the local area and always happy to help with planning the next day activities and organising the evening meals in local restaurants. Perfect place for a short break to recharge batteries or for a whole holidays 10 – 14 days easily. The whole family loved it and we can’t wait to be back again in October.”

“We just had a most amazing weekend away. It was our friend birthday and we decided to do something different this time. In the first day after an amazing breakfast we went skiing at the Cairngorms, that is only an hour away, but what a view on the way to there and on the way back our evening meal was booked and ready for us. Then the next day after another great breakfast (our favourite was pancakes with the hot fruit sauce) we spend exploring nearby forest and river. It was brilliant, so much fresh air! Last evening we spend with the wine and watching Netflix that we were really surprised to have in our rooms. It was a really good weekend and we will be back again. Can’t wait!”
Home From Home
Ardross is located about 20 miles north of the Highland capital, Inverness, and is in the county of Easter Ross. It lies on the B9176 road that runs between the town of Alness on the Cromarty Firth and the village of Bonar Bridge on the Dornoch Firth. This road is signposted as the “Moray Firth Tourist Route” and is a scenic alternative to the A9 for those travelling up or down the East coast of Scotland. This road is also on the most common Lands End to John O Groats route, making us a convenient stopover for those travelling End to End.
Scotland, and in particular the Highlands, offers probably the best walking available in the United Kingdom. There’s everything from low level strolls by lochs and rivers, to the Mountains and in particular the Munro’s, the 3000 foot mountains of which there are 284. And there’s just about everything in between. Something for all ages and abilities.
Scotland is a bit different. Access to the hills is, by tradition, allowed on most uncultivated upland area’s. This makes hill walking here somewhat different. For a start, you will find very few footpaths marked on Ordnance Survey maps, and far fewer signposted on the ground. Because all walkers are not forced to follow exactly the same path, you will often find when you reach the open hillside, you will not have easy paths to follow (except in some very popular area’s) but rather you will have to do your own navigation. Finding your way onto the hillside can also be difficult in places.
