Your Highland experience begins here
Yes, it’s true what they say. We live in one of the most amazing places on the earth! We are in Alness, the middle of nowhere and yet everything. We have wide open spaces, tranquil landscapes with peace and quiet that calms the soul, but we are also ideally situated right on the North Coast 500 (NC500), Scotland’s Route 66, only 20 miles (30 min drive) away from Inverness.
From us, you can travel to the very North to visit John O’Groats, Wick, or Thurso, South to search for Nessie at Loch Ness or journey to the almost tropical West Coast. So whether you’re venturing afar or stepping out our back garden for a walk by the river, you’ll be truly surprised of how much there is to see at Beechwood Lodge.
Book one of our getaway packages and enjoy an adventure-filled weekend or relaxing staycation, allowing you to take that well-needed break from everyday life you deserve.

About Us

Hi there! We’re Gunta and Kristine…
We are the friendly mother-daughter duo that run Beechwood Lodge B&B. We’re the warm faces that’ll be greeting you at the door, welcoming you to our little piece of Highland paradise. We share our home with our 2 well behaved dogs Sasha & Roxy, and our old, cat Lola.
We love to spend time with amazing people from all over the world, enjoying great conversations, going for long walks in the nearby forest by the river and having a good laugh!

“Wow. I can’t say enough about Gunta and Alex. They drove us to dinner so we could properly relax at the end of the night and picked us up. The breakfast was delicious. The room was perfect, clean, and comfy. And before we left, Alex charted a course for us so we would stay off the beaten path and away from traffic and tourists. Their hospitality was AMAZING!!! We will be coming back next year and plan on staying a whole week with them. Love you two to the moon!”

“This is one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed and owned by some of the nicest people you’re likely to meet. I stayed here twice whilst on a work project in the hills nearby. For traveling workers Beechwood is ideal: the rooms are comfortable with everything you’d need provided, plus a large living/dining room and patio to relax and eat. Great choice of breakfast each day and in the evenings Gunta and Alec allowed us to cook meals for ourselves. With other guests we would play chess or watch a film, and on days off we could take their lovely and sorely missed dogs out for a walk by the river nearby, in quite spectacular scenery. The location is so quiet with wonderful fresh air that I slept incredibly well. Yet it’s a short drive to Allness for restaurants and shopping and only 25 mins to Inverness.”

“Great hosts so welcoming, nothing is to much trouble, great choice of food, spotless rooms, location is fantastic so peaceful loads of things to do in local area, walks, castles, nature, have to say the coastline up towards wick is probably some of the best not just in Scotland but UK and we come from fife, hosts are willing to listen and take on board any good advice, as a regular b&b user in Scotland for the last 10years I have never stayed at the same place twice but I will be revisiting this 1 sometime for definite.”

“I walked Lands End to John O’Groats this summer and stayed at Beech Lodge B&B. Very supportive kind people who gave my 3 dogs and me the most beautiful and comfortable room. They did everything to make their guests comfortable and had even lovely argan oil products in the bathrooms. I really enjoyed meeting husband and wife team. Thank you so much for dog charity. “A little bit excited to visit our first B&B on our road-trip true the North of Scotland we where warmly welcomed to there lovely lodge. My daughter and me felt welcome in just seconds. The room was perfect and clean and offered lots of choices for a nice breakfast next day. Alec studied our trip for the coming week and gave us some other options to see more of the beautiful places. We were happy to come back here 7 days later to fly home the next day. This gave us the possibility to thank them for a unforgettable road trip. There enthusiasm made us love this people and next time we will stay some longer and keep The Beechwood Lodge as a basecamp to drive to the many places they advised us. Thank you both so much!”
